PROFITIS ILIAS MOUNTAIN – ELAFOS & ELAFINA

Profitis Ilias Mountain is the highest peak on Rhodes Island, standing at approximately 800 meters (2,624 feet) above sea level. It is known for its stunning panoramic views of the island and the surrounding Aegean Sea.

Adjacent to Profitis Ilias Mountain, there are two historical hotels known as Elafos and Elafina. Here’s some information about them:

Elafos Hotel: Built in 1929 during the Italian occupation of Rhodes, the Elafos Hotel is a historic building that has been restored and renovated over the years. It is designed in a traditional Alpine architectural style, featuring wooden beams and stone walls. The hotel originally served as accommodation for Italian officers and later operated as a luxury hotel catering to wealthy visitors to Rhodes.

Elafina Hotel: The Elafina Hotel, also constructed during the Italian period, is located adjacent to the Elafos Hotel. Like its counterpart, it boasts a charming architectural style with rustic stone and wood elements. The Elafina Hotel was primarily used to accommodate guests and staff associated with the Elafos Hotel.

Both hotels offer a unique and tranquil setting amidst the natural beauty of Profitis Ilias Mountain. Visitors can enjoy the cool mountain air, scenic hiking trails, and breathtaking views of Rhodes and the surrounding area. The hotels provide a glimpse into the island’s history and offer a peaceful retreat for travelers seeking relaxation and serenity away from the bustling coastal areas.
